Medication Administration

Course meets and exceeds BON requirements for stipulations and covers nurse responsibility related to medication administration, the vital components of a medication order, standard abbreviations, and identification of each type of medication order: Standard, One time, Stat, P.R.N., Standing, and Verbal/Telephone. Five rights of medication administration, medication error prevention and nursing responsibility once an error has been made. Physical Assessment

Course meets and exceeds BON requirements for stipulations and covers the process and barriers in the interview and health history part of the assessment, the working meaning of the following: Nursing Practice Act – Section 217.11(2) and 217.12 (2), basic components of physical assessment, including equipment use and maintenance, basic techniques used in assessment, correct procedures for obtaining vital signs and alternatives, deviations in vital signs and possible significances, the nursing process in the system by system assessment, with normal and abnormal findings, identification of pain evaluations systems, myths, documentation of pain and importance of reassessment.

IV Therapy + Refresher Program

Reviews the basic vascular structure, peripheral line complications including signs and symptoms with appropriate nursing interventions, calculations, performance technique, the purpose of IV therapy, selection of sites, and commonly used veins. Practice in a skills lab on manikins with blood return.
